Leisure Cycling – An Overview


With the stresses of everyday life, it has never been as important for you to take some time for yourself, relax and indulge in some leisure activities. Liverpool`s commitment to The Trans Pennine Trail is fulfilled through the creation of the Liverpool Loop Line. One of Liverpool most popular spots for leisure cyclists, walkers and horse riders. This 10 mile route from Halewood to Aintree, completed in 2000, is accessible by public transport and particularly suitable for families. It also connects to National Cycle Network Route 56m through Aintree and Southport.

The newly developed Netherley, Speke and Garston cycle route sees a joint effort between the ERDF and Liverpool City Council, to update an old route with much needed improvements. Leisure cyclists can take advantage of the on road advisory cycle lanes and improvements to existing off road cycle facilities.

Liverpool`s City Centre to Otterspool cycling route is designed so cyclists can take advantage of quieter roads and avoid traffic. The route should take about twenty minutes to complete and is two and a half miles long. The route connects to Route 56 and was designed with fun and practicalities in mind.

The University Route - City Centre to Garston and the Woolton Cycle Route are both designed with convenience and aesthetics in mind and encompasses quiet roads and city parks.

Now that you know which routes are available in and around Liverpool, it is important that you have the right equipment. Cycling gear and accessories can really make a difference to your trips.
